With over 2000 delegates from more than 70 states and countries, the US climate summit is one of the world's key events for the development of strategies and partnerships to reduce CO2 emissions, generate alternative energies and combat global warming.
Once Schwarzenegger had made his opening speech, emphasising once again that environmental protection and economic growth are not mutually exclusive, he met Robert Kanduth, CEO at GREENoneTEC, for a one-to-one discussion. Schwarzenegger appeared surprised at GREENoneTEC's position as world market leader and explained California's current expansion plans for its climate policy. "The fossil fuel era is over. We are investing in research and development to expand renewable energies, because we have recognised that these energies are the future and are capable of creating hundreds of thousands of jobs", said Schwarzenegger.
"The euphoric mood towards alternative energies here in California is huge. The entire government is supporting the goal of replacing fossil energy sources as soon as possible!", reported Kanduth. "Austria and Europe must watch out, the Americans are hot on their tails when in comes to renewable energy!"
And Kanduth appeared enthusiastic about the climate summit from a business angle too: "The interest Austria is showing in innovative solar collectors is enormous. We shall certainly be making more use of the opportunities and potentials offered by the Californian market from now on!"
